A Message From the Principal

As we conclude this remarkable school year, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for being an essential part of our learning community. Each morning, I remind our students that they are here to grow—and indeed, they have! Whether it was expanding their understanding in math, enhancing their writing skills, or demonstrating kindness in the hallways, everyone truly exemplified "The Cougar Way" throughout the year.

This year was filled with many proud moments: academic achievements, personal development, joyful celebrations, and impactful learning experiences. None of this would have been possible without the strong partnership between home and school. Your support, encouragement, and belief in our mission have helped create an environment where students feel safe, valued, and motivated to do their best.

As summer approaches, I hope you find time for play, relaxation, reading, and dreaming big. I look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall, ready to continue this journey together. It has been a joy getting to know the Clay Lamberton community in my first year.

Thank you,

sara

Sara Markee

Clay Lamberton Elementary School Principal

5th Grade Transition to Middle School: What’s Coming Up!

Tuesday, May 6
Berlin Middle School Principal, Ms. Pariso, Assistant Principal, Mr. Ray, and Counselor Ms. Simon, will meet with our 5th graders at Clay to introduce themselves and share what to expect in middle school.

Thursday, May 8
Exciting news! Our 5th graders will visit BMS in the morning. During this visit, they will tour the building, learn about electives, schedules, and lunch routines, and may even have the chance to visit a few 6th-grade classrooms.

June 9 – 27
Middle School Summer School
All students entering 6th grade will attend summer school at BMS, not Clay. Incoming 6th graders will participate in a one-week transition course designed to help them practice using lockers, changing classes, and getting organized.

As we approach each event, we will send more details home. Please feel free to reach out with any questions—we are here to support you and ensure this transition is a positive experience for everyone!

4K Breakfast Update

As we prepare students for a smooth transition to kindergarten, we’re making a small change to our morning routine. Beginning Thursday, May 1st, 4K students who eat breakfast at school will now do so in the cafeteria, like the older students. This adjustment will help them get used to next year's routine.

The process is straightforward: students will still enter through Door 1 but will go directly to the cafeteria instead of their classroom, where an adult will assist them. After breakfast, they will remain in the cafeteria until the bell rings and will then be escorted to their classroom.

Please note that 4K will no longer have a separate breakfast menu and will follow the same menu as other students. Thank you!

Missoula Children's Theatre - Rumpelstiltskin

The enchanting performance of Rumpelstiltskin was brought to life through our collaboration with Missoula Children's Theatre.

Students dedicated countless hours to rehearsing and memorizing their lines, ensuring a fantastic show for all. It was heartwarming to see children from neighboring districts, parochial schools, and home-schooled students unite in this performance.

Congratulations to our talented students for an outstanding job!

Recently, in Mrs. Rilling's class, students collaborated to invent their own mechanisms designed to test how far a marble could roll. The children did an outstanding job, and the project was an enjoyable experience that engaged the entire classroom!

Farmers and Merchants Bank Inspires First Graders to Save

Fantastic staff members from Farmers & Merchants Bank visited our first-grade students to teach them the importance of saving money! They engaged the children by reading a book, bringing along money for counting, and encouraging them to set personal savings goals. Each student was kindly gifted a book and a pencil to support their learning journey.

Kindergarten Adventure at Kelley's Farmstead

Our Kindergarteners had an exciting trip to Kelley's Farmstead! We discovered fascinating facts about adorable baby farm animals and even had the chance to hold some of them. After our animal encounters, we set off to Lakeside Park in FDL for a delicious lunch and a day of fun on the giant playground. What a fantastic day of learning and play!
