A Message From the Principal
Happy New Year! I hope you had a restful and joyful winter break. As we enter the second half of the school year, I want to take a moment to talk about an important part of our learning process—mid-year assessments—and why they matter for your child’s growth and success.
Why Mid-Year Assessments Matter
Mid-year assessments provide us with a “check-in” on your child’s academic progress so far this year. These assessments are not about assigning grades but instead help us answer important questions, such as:
What skills has my child mastered?
Where might they need more support?
Are they on track to meet end-of-year learning goals?
By gathering this information, we can make informed decisions to better support every student’s learning.
How We Use the Results
Once the assessments are complete, our teachers carefully analyze the results to:
Celebrate Growth – Recognize areas where students are excelling and encourage continued progress.
Identify Areas for Support – Pinpoint skills that need reinforcement and adjust instruction to meet individual needs.
Plan Small-Group Instruction – Provide focused support during small-group or one-on-one time to help students grow in specific areas.
Monitor Progress Over Time – Track growth from the beginning to the middle and end of the year to ensure steady improvement.
Partnering Together
We know that learning is a partnership, and we want to keep you informed about your child’s progress every step of the way.
If you have any questions about these assessments, what they measure, or how you can help at home, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your support and encouragement make all the difference in your child’s learning journey!
Thank you for being such an important part of our learning community. We’re excited to see all the growth and accomplishments the second half of the school year will bring!
Warmly,
Sara Markee
