A Message From the Principal

Spring in Wisconsin brings longer days, warmer weather, and a renewed sense of energy to our school community. It is a season of growth, both outside and inside the classroom, as students continue to build on everything they have learned this year. One way we measure that growth is through the WI State Forward Exam, where students can showcase their knowledge and progress.

While only students in grades 3 to 5 at Clay participate in the Forward Exam, it is important for all families to understand its significance.

The Wisconsin Forward Exam is a state-mandated assessment for students in grades 3-8 and 10th grade social studies. This exam is administered each spring to evaluate what students have learned in reading and math. Additionally, science and social studies are included for grades 4 and 8.

The purpose of the Forward Exam is to help teachers, schools, and families understand how well students are meeting grade-level expectations and identify areas where they may need more support. We encourage students to view this as their opportunity to shine and demonstrate all the hard work they have put in!

Furthermore, the Forward Exam serves as a tool for the state of Wisconsin to assess college and career readiness for all students. Based on the growth we have observed through iReady this school year, I am excited to see how our student achievement compares to others across the state. More information will be sent home specifically to families of students in grades 3 to 5.

Best Regards,

sara

Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast

"Say! I like green eggs and ham!

I do! I like them, Sam-I-am!"

Our second graders had a fun-filled morning as they ventured to Berlin High School for a special breakfast featuring green eggs, ham, and toast! The breakfast was a joyous occasion, thanks to many dedicated family members who prepared this Dr. Seuss-themed feast in the foods lab. They joined the students as they enjoyed their meal with friends.

The tables were alive with giggles and smiles, making it a truly memorable morning for everyone involved!

New This Year, Child Find

We are excited to announce that this year we are replacing Child Development Days with Child Find!

Child Find is a free developmental screening for all children aged 2.5 to 5 years old who live within our district boundaries. This program helps identify potential developmental delays and celebrates important childhood milestones. Best of all, the screening only takes about 20 minutes to complete.

After the screening, a member of the Berlin Area School District will contact you to schedule either an in-person or phone conference. During this meeting, we will discuss the results, answer any questions you may have, and provide you with appropriate resources.

If interested in completing the survey, please click on the link below.
