A Message From the Principal

Greetings BMS Families!

We are well underway in semester two, and our students have just completed the iReady Winter Diagnostic. We are excited to share that BMS students have already reached 62% of their reading growth goal and an impressive 76% of their annual math growth goal! This strong progress is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our staff, who consistently support student learning during class time and Power Hour. Our team has also been intentional in helping students monitor their goals and build intrinsic motivation. We are proud of our students’ efforts and are eager to see this momentum continue as we move toward the end of the school year.

Regular attendance plays a critical role in sustaining this growth. Being present in class allows students to fully engage in instruction, discussions, and learning experiences that cannot always be replicated through makeup work. While we understand that absences may occur, consistent attendance helps students build strong learning habits, remain connected to their learning, and avoid falling behind.

Please remember that when students are absent for any reason—including illness, appointments, or vacations—they are expected to make up all missed work in a timely manner. Staying organized and proactive after an absence is key to continued academic success.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with you throughout the remainder of the winter as we support our students’ growth. Thank you for your ongoing support at home and for reinforcing the importance of attendance, effort, and goal-setting with your adolescence. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Warmest regards,

Colleen Pariso

Principal

Exploring WWII and the Holocaust

In Mrs. Stobbe's 7th grade ELA and Geography class, students are diving into the topics of WWII and the Holocaust. To make learning more engaging, they explored the Jewish Ghetto and a concentration camp using VR (Virtual Reality) headsets.

Mid Winter Band Concert

The band's performance on January 8th was outstanding! The students excelled on stage, clearly reflecting their hard work and dedication.

Well done, students! Your talent truly shines!

STEAM DAY = SUCCESS

The Project Lead the Way Department at BMS, with help from our incredible teachers, hosted a day packed with hands-on fun! Students explored marble runs, kaleidoscopes, pixel art, chess and checkers, slime making, snap circuits, lava lamps, fingerprint identification, and more.

The big hit of the day? An awesome mini golf course designed and built by our 8th-grade Project Lead the Way Design & Modeling students. It was a great day of learning!

Science Got Eye-Opening in 6th Grade!

Mr. Wasmuth’s science students had a blast dissecting cow eyes during their latest lab. If you ever had Mr. Wasmuth, you know this is a classic lesson—one students never forget!

Welcoming Nick Tokman from "Deadliest Catch" for Inspirational Event

Our district had the honor of welcoming Nick Sunshine Tokman from the hit show Deadliest Catch for an inspiring and unforgettable presentation. A huge thank-you to Mrs. Miller and the Berlin FFA for helping make this opportunity possible.

With his high-energy, positive spirit, Nick spoke about “Becoming Your Own Captain” and encouraged students to believe in themselves, work hard, and follow their passions. His enthusiasm was contagious, and our students were fully engaged from start to finish.

We are so thankful for this amazing experience. Nick truly lived up to his nickname and brought a whole lot of “Sunshine” to our school!

Big news at Pine Bluff School Forest!

Thanks to Abee Inc., our high ropes course has a brand-new SmartSnap system and updated gear—and we couldn’t be more excited!

This means we’re officially bringing our school forest and ropes courses back to life for students and the community.

More details to come—keep an eye out!
