A Message From the Principal Dear BHS Families, I think we are in the “calm before the storm” as it relates to the last quarter of the school year. We have so many things yet to do, but I know the next 12 weeks will go fast.
Just a reminder that the district is not having formal parent/teacher conferences this spring. Please make sure you check Powerschool periodically and feel free to reach out to your child’s teachers with any concerns or questions.
Our fine arts will be on display next week with a joint band/choir concert (don’t forget about the spaghetti supper before) on March 10th. We also have two showings of our play, The Suessification of Romeo and Juliet at the end of next week.
On April 8th, students in grades 9-11 will be testing on the PreACT and ACT. It’s an important day for our school and our students. Testing will be wrapped up around noon, and students will be allowed to leave after testing if they wish. Seniors will not be required to attend on this day. More information about testing will come in a separate communication.
Prom will be here before you know it and preparations for graduation are in full swing. It’s an exciting time at Berlin High School! Yours, Bryant Bednarek |

AP Physics Takes on Curling
Mr. Bell’s AP Physics class took part in their 1st annual curling field trip at the Appleton Curling Club, where students got a hands-on crash course in the physics behind the sport.
From learning the basics to seeing science in action on the ice, the class picked it up quickly! The experience even sparked extra interest as students watched curling events during the Winter Olympic Games. Safe to say—there’s a newfound appreciation for curling at BHS! |

Future Chefs in Action Our Food Service students had an amazing day at Fox Valley Technical College’s Culinary & Hospitality Day in Appleton! They were inspired by keynote speakers—former FVTC students now working in the industry—watched cooking demos, and even got to sample some delicious creations.
The day didn’t stop there! Students toured the Culinary, Baking, and Hospitality program areas and enjoyed a lunch prepared by current FVTC students. A full day of learning, tasting, and dreaming big in the world of food and hospitality! |

Students Excel at Garnishing Unit Our Food Service students put their knife skills to the test by creating beautiful Apple Swans as part of their Garnishing Unit!
In class, students have been learning that garnishing means “to ornament food with another colorful food to add eye appeal” — and these students absolutely nailed it. Using a step-by-step tutorial video, they carefully carved, shaped, and assembled their swans with precision and creativity.
It’s safe to say these designs are almost too pretty to eat… almost! |

Sewing I Students Stitch Up Creativity
Students in Sewing I recently finished a hands-on project in their Hand Sewing Notions and Tools unit. Each student designed and hand-sewed their own pincushion, adding a creative stitched detail to make it unique.
These one-of-a-kind pincushions will be used throughout the rest of the semester as students begin sewing on the machines. Great work, Sewing I! |

Hayden Redington Becomes Berlin's All-Time Scoring Leader
Congratulations to senior Hayden Redington on becoming Berlin’s all-time leading scorer!
Hayden entered February 12th's game needing 20 points to surpass Toby Hegner’s previous career record of 1,213 points. He finished with 26 points in Berlin’s 71–46 South Central Conference victory over Westfield, officially setting the new record.
The historic moment came on a three-point shot with less than four minutes remaining in the second half. The basket sparked a 14-point run for Berlin, helping the Indians pull away after the Pioneers had cut the lead to just four points. What an incredible achievement—congratulations, Hayden! |
