A Message From the Principal
Greetings BHS Families,
Happy New Year! I hope your holiday was fantastic. As much as I appreciate the break and time with family, I equally appreciate routine and am happy to get back into it.
We are approaching the halfway point of the school year and things are going to get busy at Berlin High School. First, please see the letter about 'Bridge Day' that was sent out and is attached in this newsletter as well. This was an effective approach last year for us to improve grades and award more credit. If you have any questions about this please reach out to the office. It should also be noted that the end of the semester is also a formal grade checkpoint for extracurricular eligibility.
Another big thing that will start this month is registration for classes for next year. We are updating our course catalog and will share those documents on our website for your review. I strongly encourage you to be involved in this process with your child, asking questions about the classes they are required or wanting to take and their alignment to their future goals and plans. Your child's counselor can answer any questions you might have about any of our classes, requirements, the registration process, or suggestions based on future plans.
On a lighter note, Winterfest is coming up January 27-February 1st, concluding with the dance on Saturday, February 1st. Please watch social media or our website to see all the fun that is being planned for that week.
I hope 2025 is your best year yet! Go Berlin!
Yours,
Bryant

Christmas Shopping at the Mall
Students ventured to the mall to shop for Christmas gifts for their family and friends!
This planning began in October when they created a list of people they wanted to buy for. Each student also set a budget before their shopping trip. All were responsible for making their purchases and managing their own money. Everyone did an outstanding job!
Upon returning to school, students wrapped the gifts and anxiously waited to place them under their Christmas trees at home. It was a fun-filled day had by all!

Berlin Robotics Continues to Excel
The Berlin Robotics Team achieved remarkable success at Neenah’s Merry VEXmas Event on December 14, where they emerged victorious among 46 participating teams! Team members Jack Gerber, Tom Schumacher, and James Paskey were proud representatives of this outstanding achievement.
Earlier, on December 7, the same team showcased their skill and sportsmanship by winning the Sportsmanship Award at the 11th Annual Menasha VEX Tournament, where they competed against 38 teams. Team members James Paskey, Tom Schumacher, and Ben Johnson were instrumental in this accomplishment.
In addition to these events, Berlin Robotics has also participated in a tournament in Lomira earlier this year and regularly competes in a league in Appleton.
Thanks to their hard work and dedication, these students have qualified for the State Tournament, which will take place at the Resch Expo on March 14-15.
Congratulations to the Berlin Robotics Team on your impressive accomplishments! We wish you the best of luck at the State Tournament in March!

2025-2026 Course Registration
We will be registering for classes for the next school starting in January. Students will be given an updated course catalog and registration forms to select their classes. These forms will also be available on our school website (BHS>Academics>HS Counseling). We encourage you, the parent, to engage in conversation with your child about their course choices and the direction your child wants to go after high school.
It is important to note that we are having to 'tighten our belt' due to our financial constraints. This may include reduced staff, reduced course offerings, and higher class sizes. It is very likely that students will not get all of their requested courses, particularly their elective choices. Students will have to make decisions and choose between offerings. We are asking all students to provide alternative choices beyond their first requests. It's the unfortunate reality of what we need to do to keep our school going. At the same time, I am committed to keeping as many offerings and options as possible, and we will have quality course options for all students, regardless of their interests and career plans.
If you have questions, please reach out to your child's counselor or principal, Bryant Bednarek.

Matt Willett (Last name M-Z)
